Course Overview
This course is designed to meet the demands of the popular and ever increasing Sports Industry. This course includes theoretical ,practical and pathological aspects of sports therapy. Students will acquire an advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology of the body with particular attention on Musculoskeletal system. Students will learn a range of Injury assessment techniques for acute and chronic conditions. Hamsring strain, Frozen shoulder,shinsplints and Repetitive strain injury are some injuries you will learn about. You will learn to evaluate and assess soft tissue through a range of techniques to assess the treatment that best suits your client/athlete. This is a great course if you would like to be treating clients on pitches or your own clinic or working as a physio assistant. This can also be used to treat the general public whilst giving you a more in depth knowledge of injuries
Career Prospects
This course leads to a wide variety of career prospects including:
Progression to ITEC Sports Therapy Level 5 (6 on NFQ)
Working as a Physio assistant on pitches or clinics.
Opening your own Sports Injury Clinic
Working with Teams and Athletes
Working at Health Farms or gymnasiums
Employment can be sought at physiotherapy clinics nursing homes, hospices or osteopaths.
Course Content
This course includes theoretical ,practical and pathological aspects of sports therapy.
It teaches an advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology of the body with particular attention on Musculoskeletal system.
Students will learn the benefits of using massage including causes and prevention of sports injuries.
Advanced postural analysis and body alignment assessment.Identify body types and effects of postural deviances.
Soft tissue dysfunction
Students will also be able to apply advanced Sports injuries massage techniques whilst also being able to assess injuries through a range of techniques.
Students will also learn to apply Sports massage techniques to prevent and manage injuries.
Course will also equip students with a range of treatment modalities to help soft tissue repair.
Learn the underpinning know ledge of what makes clients susceptible to injury
Treatment for acute, subacute and chronic stages of injury.
Cryotherapy as a form of treatment.
