Course Overview
This course is designed to meet the demands of the popular and ever increasing Sports Industry. This course includes theoretical and practical aspects of sports therapy.
This course will teach students the techniques of deep tissue massage alongside a full Swedish/holistic massage.
It focuses on advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology of the body that may influence the massage methods used to prevent and manage injury. Students will also learn to identify healthy muscles and how to treat uninjured tissue.
Students will learn the benefits of using massage before and after events and can prepare themselves to work with teams in helping recovery of the muscles or work as a physio assistant with athletes.
Students will also be able to apply their skills to work on the general public for relaxation, removal of stress and tension and general muscle health.
Career Prospects
This course leads to a wide variety of career prospects including:
Progression to ITEC Sports Therapy Level 4 (6 on NFQ)
Working as a Physio assistant on pitches or clinics.
Opening your own Sports Massage Clinic
Working with Teams and Athletes
Working at Health Farms, spa or gymnasiums
Employment can be sought at physiotherapy clinics nursing homes or osteopaths.
Freelance as a holistic massage therapist or Sports massage therapist.

ITEC Level 3 (Level 5 on NFQ) Certificate in Sports Massage
